are named after the meticulous process we devote to every drop of our double marcdual extracts. We start by grinding dried mushroom fruiting bodies into a powder as the increased surface area allows for a more efficient extraction. The resulting product (known as a marc) is soaked in certified organic cane spirits for 8 weeks and agitated twice daily. We then use a different batch of ground mushrooms (hence the “double marc”) for our water extraction. The second marc is simmered for 8 hours in filtered water; a process that breaks down the cell walls of fungi and allows for more bioavailability of the various beneficial compoundsWe repeat the hot water extraction three to five times (depending on the species), resulting in a large volume of strong mushroom tea. Then we boil down the tea until we've achieved a 1:5 ratio of dry marc to liquid extract. The resulting alcohol and hot water extracts are combined at a 1:2 ratio to create our 8&8 tinctures.
